Weight loss tips for teenage boys

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about “beautiful” and “staying in shape”? More than 80% of America’s population would be thinking about women—beautiful and sexy. What we fail to remember is that a lot of men needs or wants to stay in shape too. If you’re worried about your teenage daughter being overweight because nobody would ask her to go to the dance, you’d need to equally get worried about your teenage son. Nobody might ask him to go to the dance, but no one might also agree to go with him. Aside from just looking good, staying in shape has its health benefits as well. So, here are some tips on how teenage boys can lose weight effectively and safely.
STOP LIVING A SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE
A lot of teenage boys today seem to adapt a sedentary lifestyle. This is actually a term used to denote a lifestyle in which there is limited or no physical activity. If you’ve been playing games on your PS3 for more than two hours a day and follow it up with watching your favorite movie, chances are you don’t get to move as much as you should. If you are familiar with the term “couch potato”, that’s exactly what a sedentary lifestyle is about. Lack of physical activity has been known to cause a number of preventable illnesses such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, kidney stones and obesity.
PLAY SPORTS
I know it’s hard to play and get active when you have so much weight to carry, but playing sports may be the only thing that will save you from obesity. If you like basketball, then go ahead and play it. You can even play it with your dad at your backyard if you want. Another sport that has been proven to be very effective for weight loss is swimming. It allows you to use all of your muscles plus the water makes the workout more intense. The important thing to remember here is that you need to MOVE, and it doesn’t really matter how you do it.
WATCH WHAT YOU EAT
Boys are known to have a bigger appetite than girls, but it doesn’t mean you can just eat anything that you get your hands into. It’s impossible to eliminate junk food from a teenager’s diet, and it’s ok to have some as long as you don’t do it often. Maybe a piece of two of potato chips once a week is enough so that you don’t really forget how it tastes like. It’s also important that you include a lot of vegetables and fruits in your diet which is great for cleaning the colon off toxins and fats.
